Located in Buckhurst Hill, where London meets Essex, on the Central
Line Tube, Bancroft Rugby Club is a welcoming, open rugby club that enjoys a
good standard of rugby, new players of all levels of ability are always
welcome, along with supporters and social members. With a resident Club
Manager, the clubhouse bar is open each night of the week and serves as the
hub for the social side of the club and other spin-off activities such as
the football club. So if you are not a player why not join as a social
member and enjoy our excellent facilities.
Bancroft Rugby Club is one of the oldest rugby clubs in Essex being founded
in 1894 and enjoys the benefits of its private grounds, comprising of 24
acres of greenbelt land next to the River Roding. Just opposite the club
entrance is Roding Underground Station on the Central line which allows easy
access from all of London. The M11 and M25 are also within easy reach.
Like most clubs our senior section is looking to attract more players of all
levels. The 1st XV play in Essex League Division One. The 2nd XV plays in
Essex BL Merit League 3 having won promotion twice in the last four seasons. Seasoned rugby players tired of
playing in sides full of forwards or shopping on Saturdays are especially
welcome to balance the ages of our playing membership.
Our senior sides train every Tuesday and Thursday night starting at 7:30 pm
under the guidance of two coaches.
If playing it is not for you, then you can become part
of the Club community by becoming a social member. We have a large social
calendar, for non-players and family members. We have large screen TV with
Sky sports and the bar prices are cheaper than the local pubs. Click the Contact Details menu
for further information and Steve Bakers, our Membership Secretaries contact
details.
So come and enjoy playing and socialising in a friendly club atmosphere. |
